1. How do you end up in the real estate industry with a degree in history?
Not directly, but with an open mind and a dose of curiosity. The history degree programme is not a traditional vocational training course and therefore opens up a variety of paths - without setting a fixed direction. At the centre of the course is the ability to grasp complex contexts, question them critically and get to the heart of the matter. It is precisely these skills that are also extremely valuable beyond the humanities. I had my first contact with the property world during my studies - in a job with a focus on cold calling. This experience challenged me to leave my comfort zone, but at the same time offered me the opportunity for personal development. Looking back, this was probably the unconscious starting signal for my later professional career.
2. Why did you specialise in the investment property sector?
After more than ten years in the residential property sector, I wanted to expand my professional repertoire and work more in the B2B environment. Although I had already dealt with companies in previous positions - particularly in the context of new-build projects - this was mostly on the client side. Switching to the investor side therefore gave me new, exciting insights into the industry and offered me the opportunity to develop further.
3. What do you particularly appreciate about your work at Julius Baer Real Estate?
I am enthusiastic about the broad and in-depth expertise that we can offer together with Bank Julius Baer. Our range of services is extremely diverse: it extends from well-founded real estate valuations to the classic brokerage business for residential property and commercial properties, tenant and landlord representation through to financing issues, advice on direct and indirect real estate investments and institutional services. This diversity makes our work exciting every day and allows us to provide our clients with comprehensive and personalised support.
4. What does your perfect Sunday morning look like?
A great question! Ideally, it shouldn’t start too early - because the alarm clock usually rings quite early during the week. However, with two small children aged two and three, this wish cannot always be realised. We usually start with a short jog - the children in the pushchair, accompanied by my wife and dog Max. This joint activity is more than just a sporting balance for me: it has become a fixed ritual that helps me to recharge my batteries after an intensive week. Back at home - often with fresh pastries from the bakery - we then enjoy a hearty breakfast, preferably outside in the garden and in the open air.
